Καὶ συντελέσας πάντα πειρασμὸν ὁ Διάβολος, ἀπέστη ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἄχρι καιροῦ.
Gospel According To Matthew
Then the Devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
Then Iesus said to him, “Go away from Me, Satan; for it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.’”
and he says to him, “All these things I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”
Again, the Devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory,
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
and he said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, ‘He shall command His angels concerning you, and in their hands they will bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.’”
Then the Devil took him to the holy city, and had him stand on a pinnacle of the temple,
But he answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
And when the tempter came, he said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.
And he was there in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild beasts; and the angels were ministering to him.
