Ἐὰν γὰρ ἀγαπήσητε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς τίνα μισθὸν ἔχετε; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ τελῶναι τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσι;
For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
Gospel According To Matthew
For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
so that you may be the sons of your Father who is in Heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.
But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you, and persecute you,
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your.’
Give to the one who asks you, and to the one who wants to borrow from you, do not turn away.
And whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
And if anyone wants to sue you for your coat, let him have the cloak also.
But I say to you, Do not resist an evil person, but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
But in your speech let ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’, ‘No’ be ‘No’; and anything beyond these is of the evil one.
